The CARGT SOM-MX8M-PLUS is a SODIMM-form-factor System on Module powered by NXP's i.MX 8M Plus.
At the core of the module, the i.MX 8M Plus pairs a quad-core Cortex-A53 clocked to 1.8GHz with an 800MHz Cortex-M7 for real-time workloads, and adds a dedicated Neural Processing Unit (NPU) to handle AI/ML inference on-device. Imaging is served by an on-chip Image Signal Processor driving two camera inputs, backed by a 2D/3D GPU and hardware H.265 encode and decode. Wireless is handled through an M.2 E-key interface, with PCIe, USB, UART, and I2S routed out to the socket so the radio module can be selected to suit the application — WiFi 6 and Bluetooth, 802.15.4, or a tri-radio combo — and swapped without changing the SoM or requalifying the baseband design. Wired I/O covers dual GbE with IEEE1588, USB3, dual CAN-FD, PCIe, and display outputs spanning 4K HDMI, dual LVDS, and DSI.
The SODIMM edge connector keeps the module socketed rather than soldered, simplifying rework, field replacement, and evaluation across carrier designs, while consolidating the i.MX 8M Plus, memory, and power sequencing onto a single qualified board.
